JINA NEXT / WEBSITE PREVIEW

Practical guide

Get an answer, then get back to JINA.

Search for a task or browse the cards. Each answer gives the essential path and the differences that matter.

Find#

Filter and sort

Narrow the app list and choose an order that helps right now.

Show the steps
  1. Open the Drawer’s filter or sort controls.
  2. Choose a filter, then a sort order.
  3. Clear the filter to return to the full view.

A temporary filter is different from permanently excluding an app from a collection.

Organize#

Create a collection

Bring apps and shortcuts together manually or start from ready-made collections.

Show the steps
  1. Open the collection overview.
  2. Create a collection and give it a recognizable name.
  3. Add apps or shortcuts; select multiple items when useful.

A collection shortcut opens the collection; it does not make a copy.

Organize#

What changes from folders and tags?

NeXt collections bring together the folder and tag concepts from JINA Legacy.

Show the steps
  1. Open a collection to find apps and shortcuts, as you would in a folder.
  2. Add the same app to several collections when useful, as you could with tags.
  3. Choose a manual collection or one that updates through rules.

This describes the concept; transferring Legacy data follows the import process.

Organize#

Choose ready-made JINA collections

Explore thematic collections and use the overview to navigate by area of life.

Show the steps
  1. In settings choose whether to show JINA collections, Play categories, and your own collections.
  2. Open the collection index and switch between Overview and Detail.
  3. Open a theme, then a collection; customize its name, visibility, or rule where supported.

Play categories are a separate, optional family. Other apps means apps without a place under JINA’s criteria, not apps without a Play category.

Organize#

Build a collection with the Rule Builder

Combine AND/OR conditions, including nested groups, preview matches, and adjust the result with exceptions.

Show the steps
  1. Open a collection and go to the rule editor.
  2. Add conditions and AND/OR groups; check the number of matching apps in the preview.
  3. Save the rule. Add apps manually or exclude special cases when needed.

You can start from an existing rule. Some rules let you freeze their contents and later reactivate them.

Organize#

Review classification

Use automatic suggestions as a starting point and review assignments.

Show the steps
  1. Open classification or collection suggestions.
  2. Review proposals before applying them.
  3. Correct inclusions or exclusions for your needs.

An external AI assistant still needs your review; experimental offline AI is not a standard feature.

Organize#

Define a collection with AI assistance

Describe in your own words what belongs in the collection and what should stay out; an assistant you choose judges apps against that boundary.

Show the steps
  1. Open a compatible collection and choose AI assistance to fill or check it.
  2. Write what belongs and optionally what stays out. JINA prepares a message to open in an assistant app of your choice or copy.
  3. Copy the assistant’s answer back into JINA, read the reasons, and confirm only the additions or removals you want.

The response does not return automatically and nothing changes before you confirm. Your collection description is saved.

Organize#

Keep Favorites close

Bring frequently used items together in one immediate place.

Show the steps
  1. Open the app or item menu.
  2. Mark it as a Favorite.
  3. Find it in Favorites.

Favorites are your choice; automatic classification does not change them.

Access#

Set up hotspots and Sidebar

Choose what opens from a screen edge, even over another app.

Show the steps
  1. Open hotspot and access settings.
  2. Set hotspot position and behavior.
  3. Choose Drawer, Sidebar, or a Panel, then try the gesture.

Sidebar is a side view; a Panel opens from a hotspot. The relevant Android permissions are required.

Access#

Bring a collection to Home

Choose a compact widget, grid widget, or collection Floating window.

Show the steps
  1. Add a JINA widget on Home or create a collection shortcut.
  2. Choose a collection and presentation.
  3. Adjust options for that widget or shortcut.

Home Floating is different from a hotspot Panel and the service Floating window used to edit a widget.

Customize#

Change appearance and icons

Adapt themes, icon packs, personal icons, and Drawer layout.

Show the steps
  1. Open appearance settings or the item’s customization.
  2. Choose theme and icons; select Drawer grid or list and its density.
  3. Review the preview and save.

Widget options apply to that widget; the Drawer list editor does not automatically change Sidebar.

Customize#

Adapt gestures and commands

Set handedness, long press, Quick menu, and Drawer commands.

Show the steps
  1. Open gesture and command settings.
  2. Choose the behavior you want to change.
  3. Try it in the Drawer or the relevant context.

Local hotspot and Panel choices can differ from general settings.

Manage#

See app notifications

View badges, previews, and app notifications where available.

Show the steps
  1. Grant notification access if you want this feature.
  2. Choose how indicators appear.
  3. Open notifications to review available messages.

Active notifications and unread messages mean different things; availability depends on Android and apps.

Manage#

Back up and restore

Save a JINA backup and choose what to recover when restoring.

Show the steps
  1. Open Backup in settings.
  2. Export the backup to your chosen destination.
  3. When restoring, review the preview and select what to recover.

A JINA backup differs from exporting an Excel report or an APK.

Access#

Create content and contact shortcuts

Bring websites, documents, folders, app actions, and people into your Drawer.

Show the steps
  1. Open Add in a supported collection or the Drawer.
  2. Choose the shortcut type, destination, name, and icon.
  3. For a contact, select the detail and action to open.

A cloud document shortcut still depends on its provider; it does not copy the file.

Organize#

Organize several items at once

Select several apps or collections and apply compatible actions.

Show the steps
  1. Start multi-select in the current view.
  2. Choose items and check the available actions.
  3. Copy, move, or change Favorites and collections as supported.

Removing an app from a collection does not uninstall it.
